With developmental editing, you get the foundation nailed down. From inception to completion, work with a developmental editor at any stage in the process. Your DE will help you outline and organize and refine focus for a concept or will taken an existing manuscript or work in progress and help you nail down the big picture items in your manuscript like structure, style, organization, plot lines, etc.
Rates for existing works
Developmental editing rates average $0.040 - $0.05 per word for existing manuscripts depending on the level of involvement needed. The consultation rate is $65. If you choose to work with Yellow Ink, the $50 will count toward your project. Please select this option at checkout to be contacted to confirm your appointment. Your consultation is a one-hour Zoom chat or phone call. Payment for services on existing works mandates that 2/3 is due at the time the work commences. After the satisfactory completion of the work, per standard practice, the remaining 1/3 will be due before the manuscript is remitted to the author.

For works being built from the ground up, starting from an outline, or a few short chapters, please select the subscription rate. Rates are charged hourly. For transparency, Yellow Ink editors use an hour tracker for all services charged hourly. The rate for developmental editing is $65/hour.
